Pagudpud in Northern Philippines
This region of the Philippines lies in the northeasternmost tip of the country’s archipelago. It is blessed with several isolated beaches and coves, dense nature, friendly and accommodating people, delicious cuisine, and the freshest bursts of wind from all directions.
No place on the Philippines is more that 200km away from the coast. This proximity to the ocean as well as the location of the islands in the tropical zone form the climate of the Philippines. The whole year round you can find balanced temperatures of around 27°C / 81°F with only little variations.
Between August and October there are many typhoons in the North and middle part of the Philippines. The dry season (November to May) as well as the rainy season (June to October) should not be taken too seriously all around the Philippines. In contrast to other countries in South East Asia like Thailand or Cambodia where you will find almost no rain during the dry season you have to count on rain in some parts of the Philippines the whole year round.
One of the country’s beach jewels, Pagudpud Beach is a lush paradise of white sand and clear blue water perfectly laid out for private escapades, total relaxation, and of course kite surfing!
Set in the Southeastern side of Ilocos Norte, Pagudpud, also known as Kingfisher boasts of big barreling waves in the open sea and a 250-meter wide reef that creates a flat water lagoon to play in. It welcomes wind of 25-35 knots coming from all four directions, thus blowing sideshore, crosswinds, onshore and offshore winds alternately throughout the year.
The best time to come here is from October to April when the wind is more consistent and big right-hand waves of 2 meters to as high as 7 meters breaking on the reefs.
For a more challenging ride, take up on a thrilling downwind ride from the reef off Pagudpud to the flat water of the neighboring Bangui Bay. Head into the waves outside of the reef and enjoy the southeastern wind down until the reef tapers off into the windmill-lined bay. Experienced downwinders note a wind hole just before the turn to Bangui.
This secluded white beach became known as Kingfisher at the start of Kingfisher Resort, the home of Kite and Wind Surf.
A majestic White sand beach located just 10minutes away from Kingfisher which hides out of the NE trade winds offering beautiful glassy lagoon swimming and SUP/Kayak paddling. The beach is subtly lined with a few Resorts and Hotels and is a common destination for local tourists and a backpackers destination. This well protected area also houses some of the best Surfing and SUP waves around the area
Kingfisher is located in a remote area, between Saud Beach and Blue Lagoon. This charming little resort is highly recommended when you want to be with nature, disconnect completely, and when you want to be away from crowded places. It’s the ideal place when you want to bond with like minded or meet new people.
Staying at Kingfisher Resort, guests will get an opportunity to experience lots of excitements and adventures.
